SPENCER MCCLENDON

Spencer was born in Auburn, Alabama, where he grew up and eventually attended Auburn University to get an Education degree. After graduating in 2014, he moved to Durango to pursue his passion of mountain culture. Spencer worked at CTA for 5 years before he and his wife moved to Florida to teach at Ohana Institute, a project based high school in Northwest Florida as well as teaching continuing education classes for Florida State University. After two years of being away from Durango, he and his wife decided that Durango was home and they made their way back to us in 2021. His wife Beth Anne, a local teacher in Durango and Spencer have a toddler named Jackson as well as their newborn son named Monroe. They are overjoyed with the opportunity to raise them in such an amazing environment. Spencer has a great passion for whitewater kayaking as well as fly fishing and you can often find him on a creek pursuing those passions. Spencer holds CTA very close to his heart and he feels fortunate to be a part of our community once again. After teaching at CTA for seven years he has a great understanding of the program and culture of CTA. He is eager to share his passion for CTA with prospective families and how the program can have an impact on their lives.
