Director of CTA

Troy Snyder

The privilege of being the next director at CTA is a dream come true for me. There is no other school I would prefer to be a part of. In 1986 my parents lived in Colombia without an English-speaking school available, they picked CTA due to our deep roots in the area. I was a nervous, scared freshman. However, before long I fell in love with the school and its uniqueness. CTA's mission that every student matters, is honored for their individuality, deserves to be met where they are, and that academics are not just for the classroom resonated with me. I felt loved, authentically believed in, and I mattered. CTA and its teachers so strongly influenced me that I eventually went into education because I wanted to pay it forward to other students.  In addition to being the director, I had been a dorm parent at CTA after graduating from college and had been on the board of directors for 12 years.

I am a certified educator with an MBA and doctorate in educational leadership from Texas Christian University, a master's in secondary education from the University of Phoenix, and a bachelor's in political science from Colorado State University. My other professional experiences include teaching in an inner-city high school, adjunct professor for teachers pursuing their graduate degrees, a high school and middle school principal at large suburban public schools, and an assistant principal at a medium-size rural elementary and an international school in Egypt. In addition, I have been a district testing coordinator and a district safety director.

My family is also part of the CTA community. My wife Kim is an educator with Durango's school district as its District K-12 Literacy Coordinator. I also have a daughter and son. We are a family of scuba divers, outdoor enthusiasts, travelers, and explorers.
