"I came to CTA a bitter teenager, estranged from education and my parents. A new seed took root the first week, backpacking in the Weminuche, and grew on my return from Wakan to small classes and caring teachers. With skiing, rock climbing, and biking, I knew I had it good. The script flipped from ‘F you…’ to ‘Don’t F this up!’"

"CTA was such a beautiful and unique experience for me. Being an educator, myself, I can tell you that CTA was always so ahead of its time, when it comes to educating and supporting students of various backgrounds and cultures. Extremely small class sizes, hands-on, engaging curriculum, an array of choices for super fun, extra-curricular activities, and a very close-knit community through which we built impactful relationships and awesome memories. Fun fact, I had terrible reading comprehension as a child, and I will never forget actually ENJOYING reading the books we read for a lit class that was called: Psychology and Literature of the Vampires! (Whaaaat?)
I tried things I never would have had an opportunity to try, in a typical school, at home--skiing, backpacking, rock climbing, soccer, volleyball--I did it all! It honestly felt like being at camp all year long. Your friends are there in class and they are there for dinner and weekends too! What more can a teenagre ask for?! I wish I could go back and do it all again!"

“I graduated from CTA in 1992 and later returned to serve as a dorm mom and teach Psychology. My time at CTA was transformative, helping me to embrace life again and focus on healing from a traumatic event. Post-graduation, I have worked in rehabilitation and behavior intervention therapy with various groups, including children on the autistic spectrum, at-risk youth, and people with disabilities. The lessons learned at CTA have been invaluable in navigating life’s challenges. Now, as a member of the Board of Trustees, I am dedicated to supporting CTA’s continued success.”
